Ways To Give

If you care enough to give of your time, talent, or treasure, we’re here to help you maximize your impact. The easiest avenue for uplifting this community is to participate in your corporate campaign. Or, if you do not have access to such a campaign, you can give directly here.

If you prefer a more hands-on approach, please consider helping a nonprofit agency through our Volunteer Center.

Start a Workplace Campaign

Live here, give here.

Give back to the community where your customers do business … where your employees reside … where their children go to school. Where many, in fact, currently receive United Way services.

Why? The reasons are many:

  • Because improving our region is a key factor in positive economic growth.
  • Because you want to leave a legacy or instill in your workplace culture the importance of giving back.
  • Or maybe it’s simply, because it’s the right thing to do.

Whatever your reason may be, ultimately, your best philanthropic move is to make a difference that uplifts the entire community through United Way. Donor diversification is critical for our community – as this region grows, our philanthropic footprint is growing as well, thanks to companies just like yours.

Ready to begin? There are no forms – starting a campaign begins with a conversation. Why? Because your passion, your company, your culture, and your mission are all unique – and at United Way, our goal is to build philanthropy around you, not the other way around.

* By the way, don’t take our word for it: read the findings of the Workplace Giving Task Force, commissioned by the Foundation For The Carolinas in 2009.

One excerpt:

Workplace Campaigns Are Critical: the intrinsic value for which workplace campaigns were created still holds true today: together we can do more than can be done separately. The highest and best use of workplace campaigns is to maximize local giving. The process used by campaign organizations such as United Way of Central Carolinas and Arts & Science Council to select recipients and uses of funds assures that gifts will provide maximum community impact. Also, it is important to provide and maintain a safety net, recreation and amenities for our community. Furthermore, workplace campaigns foster collective community pride, as well as leadership and economic development. When run well, they provide an important means of deepening relationships between employees and the community.

That report also challenged organizations like United Way to “invest in solutions, not just allocate dollars” – that’s the exact strategy we adopted for our Collective Impact initiatives, after conducting our own national best-practices research. You can read FFTC’s 4-page executive summary here.

Leadership Giving

Leaders don’t wait – they create the change they want to see

We all have community issues that we’re passionate about, the ones that tug at our heart-strings. We give because we want to impact someone’s life, in an area that matters to us on a personal level.

None of us can solve these critical issues alone. But if we rally with others who have a similar philanthropic mindsets, then a passionate collection of donors can, in fact, create the change that we want to see in our community.

That’s the power of being a Leadership donor at United Way.

The Impact of Your Leadership

  • $1,000 helps five families with emergency rent or utilities payments during a crisis
  • $3,000 provides a month of live-saving medication for 15 underinsured men, women, and children
  • $7,000 funds four to five weeks of protective shelter and court advocacy for 15 domestic violence victims
  • $10,000 provides housing, food, and clothing for 25 families displaced by a home fire or other disaster
  • $15,000 provides 150 students in poverty with a year of training to bridge the technology gap
  • $25,000 funds three months of emergency shelter, meals, medical care, and support for 14 homeless women
