Elliott Davis Decosimo is helping cultivate the next generation of United Way donors.


This focus is both strategic and demographic: 70 percent of its local employees are under age 40, while 43 percent are under age 30. So it’s fitting that Elliott Davis Decosimo has employees on the leadership councils of United Way’s Young Leaders and LINC engagement groups.


“Elliott Davis Decosimo is very intentional about fostering a work environment that encourages employees to get involved in their community,” said Jonathan Russell, United Way’s relationship manager for the accounting, tax and consulting firm. “They start early – even their interns spend one afternoon a week volunteering at a local nonprofit.”


They devote time to the community at leadership levels as well; beyond serving on United Way’s board of directors, many employees serve on boards and in key volunteer roles at about a dozen United Way partner agencies.


And 100 percent of their employees give to their United Way campaign.


For this steadfast community commitment – paired with United Way campaign growth of 380 percent over the last five years! – Elliott Davis Decosimo recently won United Way’s statewide Spirit of North Carolina Award in the professional services category (101-200 employees).
