Thank you for joining United Way of Central Carolinas in our work to build a stronger local community.
This toolkit is designed for workplace campaign chairs and coordinators. As a campaign volunteer, you are the voice of United Way within your organization. We know it’s a lot of work, but your effort and energy are greatly appreciated by United Way and those we serve. And we’re here to support you!
What to Expect as a Campaign Volunteer
There are tons of exciting and educational activities you can do while managing your workplace campaign. What types of activities? That's up to you and your committee! The key is to get people engaged – more than simply filling out a pledge form, we want them to feel like active participants in creating change.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Have fun. Your workplace campaign is designed to show people that it’s easier to build a stronger community when we all work together. Philanthropy is serious work, but fundraising should be fun!
- We have your back. Whatever you need, your Donor Relations lead can help you with ideas, issues, and anything else that comes up.
- Be a voice in your company. Coworkers will come to you with questions about United Way and this campaign. Please review these materials, which will help you better understand how your peers can create change through giving and volunteering. Have a question you can’t answer? Just ask us!
- Set a goal – and break it. Set a goal that is challenging, yet attainable. That way, it will feel so much better when you knock that goal out of the park.
