Regions Bank Invests in ‘Being an Everyday Hero’

Regions Bank is committed to making meaningful impact in the communities in which its employees live, work and serve, from the company’s dedication to helping improve economic mobility to employees’ year-round engagement through volunteerism.

Over the past five years, Regions Bank and its associates have donated $35 million to 80 local United Ways across the bank’s 15-state footprint, including United Way of Central Carolinas in Charlotte. The company’s three community investment priorities—economic and community development, education and workforce readiness and financial wellness—support United Way’s vision of  a community where everyone can achieve their full potential.

In 2019, Regions Bank employees in Charlotte surpassed their giving goal and raised more than $85,000 through their United Way employee giving campaign.

The 2019 campaign theme of “Being an Everyday Hero” helped drive home the message that every associate can contribute their time, talents and financial support. As a result, the number of leadership donors doubled during the campaign and employee giving participation increased by nearly 18 percent.

“United Way of Central Carolinas is dedicated to addressing the greatest health, education, financial stability and basic needs challenges our communities face,” said Tim Monte, market executive for Regions Bank in Charlotte. “Our associates are committed to providing their support to empower people and elevate neighborhoods throughout Mecklenburg County by donating their time, talent and resources. Together, we can create meaningful, positive change that makes a lasting impact.”

At Regions Bank, the spirit of volunteerism is deeply ingrained in company culture. Its mission to make life better and do more for the communities it serves is put into action through “What a Difference a Day Makes.” The initiative allows associates to take a day off each year to volunteer with an organization of their choice.

Between January 2019 and October 2019, the company’s Charlotte associates logged more than 700 volunteer hours with local organizations, including United Way partner agencies that provide education, health and/or financial stability services in the community.

For being a leader in embracing a united spirit of giving and serving the community, Regions Bank was honored with a Spirit of North Carolina Award on February 19, 2020 in Pinehurst during an awards luncheon presented by United Way of North Carolina. The company also received a special Excellence in Community Spirit Award in recognition of setting high standards for community engagement and change.
