Thank You for Your Help Building Dreams!
Thank you to the volunteers and sponsors that came together with Hands On Charlotte to build a playground for the students of J.H. Gunn Elementary School.
Charlotte Playground Build Turns 15!
Corporate volunteers spent the day building a playground set designed by the students, spreading more than 1,000 bags of mulch, assembling an outdoor classroom, creating five movable murals, painting a map of the United States, hopscotch and foursquare games on the blacktop, installing eight deck benches and planter benches, clearing tree limbs, pruning bushes and refurbishing garden beds.
A special thank you to this year’s lead sponsors, Red Ventures and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA).
The Charlotte Playground Build was led by Honorary Build Co-Chairs, CRVA CEO Tom Murray and Turner Construction Vice President & General Manager, Kevin Jenkins. Thank you both for your dedication to our community!
Special Thank You!
Throughout the school day, J.H. Gunn students came out to monitor progress and cheer on the volunteers.

The Charlotte Playground Build is magic from start to finish. It’s truly rewarding to see the groundswell of support and hard work from the corporate community as we join together in creating a space that students can’t wait to experience. This day full of camaraderie and dedication makes lasting memories for the students and staff who will benefit from this playground for years to come.
